Our Honest Opinion
Just 1 in 4 adults reports eating the recommended 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day, which means 75% of us are missing out on the major source of antioxidants in our diets. Eating more fruits and veggies is always a smart idea, but for those times when you don’t quite hit the target, a greens supplement is one way to top up the antioxidant levels in your diet.
Top up your body’s natural defences
Our Supergreens formula contains algae and green veggies, which are rich in vitamins A and C and help defend your body against environmental stressors such as pollution and smoking.
Protects against heavy metals
A variety of heavy metals are present in the environment, which can accumulate in the body via ingestion or inhalation. Over time, excessive exposure to heavy metals can overwhelm the body and may contribute to inflammation and an increased risk of heart disease. Studies in animal models have shown that chlorella and spirulina can collect these metals and stop them building up in soft tissue.
Supports immune function
Chlorella supplementation has been shown to increase the activity of natural killer cells, a type of white blood cell that protects against infection.
Rich source of antioxidants
Algae and green vegetables are rich in antioxidants – compounds that protect against oxidative damage. Oxidative damage occurs when numbers of free radicals (unstable molecules that can cause damage) outweigh the body’s natural antioxidant power. Eating more antioxidant-rich foods can help top up our defence systems, and may be helpful when oxidative stress is increased, for example during high-intensity exercise or in smokers.
